Vikings dominate, win home finale

Box Score Mankato, Minn. - Bethany took the lead midway through the first half and would never relinquish it on their way to an impressive 86-55 win over North Central on Senior Night at the SFC.

Seniors Derek Peterson, Deon Wright, Michael Knight, Pat Garvin, Gavin Kroehler, Garrett Benson, and Alex Weldon all were honored in a pregame ceremony. The seniors accounted for 79 of the team's 86 points in the 31-point win.

Wright led the team with 15 points and also dished out four assists. Weldon added 13 points and six rebounds. Peterson scored 12 and recorded five assists. Knight, in his first start of the season, scored nine points on 3-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Benson came off the bench for 13 points. Kroehler scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds and Garvin scored six along with five rebounds and four assists.

Bethany’s defense and excellent shooting told the story of the game. The Vikings held the Rams to only 35.1% from the field and just 1-16 from the 3-point line. They held NCU's Nathan Roeder, the conference's leading scorer, to just 13 points on 3-of-11 shooting. Bethany made 56.7% of their shots from the field and made half of their shots from behind the arc (13-for-26).

The Vikings are now 8-4 in conference and 10-12 overall. Up next for the Vikings is a game at Minnesota-Morris on Friday.
