Box Score Tucson, Ariz. - Bethany fell behind early and wasn't able to make a comeback as they dropped their Arizona opener to Concordia-Chicago 6-2 on Sunday.
Concordia-Chicago was up 4-0 before Bethany got their first hit, a Joe Tuholsky lead off single to right. Bethany came in batting .193 as a team over their first four games and those struggles continued as they were able to muster four hits off starter Ryan Thorsen over seven innings.
Bethany's runs came in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Dylan Gass led off with a triple to right and came home four batters later on a Matt McPartland sacrifice fly.
In the sixth, Mitch Sellers doubled down the left field line with two outs. After Gass walked, Cory Ferm singled through the right side scoring Sellers.
Garrett Benson took the loss on the mound giving up five runs (all earned) on ten hits over 7 1/3 innings.
The Vikings are back on the field Monday for a doubleheader against Wesleyan.
