Box Score 2 Mankato, Minn. - The Bethany baseball team hosted their second doubleheader of the weekend, with a two-game set against North Central on Sunday.
Game one of the doubleheader saw the Vikings shut out North Central on their way to a 9-0 victory. Jordan Sinell went the distance, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out 11 batters in his nine innings of work.
The Vikings started the scoring in the first inning, with a Lucas Herd double to left center plating Mitch Sellers. The Vikings scored two in the second and batted around and scored 6 runs in the seventh inning, which included a Cory Ferm home run.
In Game two, the Viking offense wasted no time and exploded for 11 runs in the first inning on their way to an incredible 32-5 win and a sweep of the doubleheader.
Dylan Gass contributed five hits for 6 RBIs and scored five times in the contest, while Nate Lee also scored five times in the contest. Back-to-back home runs were hit by Mitch Sellers and Dylan Gass in the sixth inning, and the Vikings scored in every inning of the seven-inning rout.
Bethany improves to 8-0 in UMAC play and the Vikings now own a 12-10 overall record. The Vikings will take to the road for a doubleheader against Martin Luther College on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
