Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Bethany women's soccer team won their conference opener against North Central 3-1 and looked to improve their record against Northwestern on Saturday.
It was a close, hard fought battle all afternoon that ended in a 1-1 tie. Northwestern jumped out to a 1-0 lead with an unassisted seventh minute goal by Lauren Cleope. Both offenses fell silent for the rest of the first half, as the Eagles went into halftime with the lead.

Asia Owens scored for the Vikings to tie the game at one. The rest of regulation was all defense as neither team was able to get the ball into the back of the net again after 90 minutes.
In the first overtime, Northwestern had three shots and three corner kicks, but the Vikings senior goalkeeper
Alexa Mowery was able to deny the Eagles' attempts and keep them off the board. Mowery was able to deny three more shots in the second overtime, and the game ended in a hard fought tie.
The Vikings play in another UMAC battle against Crown College Friday at 4:15 p.m. at the BLC Soccer Field.
