Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany women's soccer team is getting used to playing extra time. In it's last match Saturday at Northwestern, the teams went two extra sessions before settling for a 1-1 tie.
On Friday against Crown at the BLC Soccer Field, the Vikings seemed destined again for a double overtime split. But
Taylor Friehl would have none of that as she headed in the game-winning goal with just over four minutes remaining in double overtime to give BLC a 3-2 win over the Storm.
Bethany fell behind early allowing a seventh minute goal from Crown's Hillary Brondesma. Ten minutes later,
Emily Biggs scored for the second time this season off a feed from
Cheyenne Huereque to even the score.
Diana Garza scored her first goal of the year in the 44th minute to give the Vikings a 2-1 lead going into the break.
Crown's Megan Wright tied the game at two in the game's 74th minute and it remained that way until Friehl's winner in the second overtime session.
The Vikings are back at home Saturday for a 2:15 p.m. tilt with Minn.-Morris.
