Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The BLC Vikings women's soccer team made the short trip north to Minneapolis to play Augsburg College Thursday night, ready to carry the momentum from a 1-0 opening night win against Finlandia University. An early deficit was too much to overcome, however, as the Vikings were defeated 5-0.

Thursday's result was similar to their victory over Bethany last season in Mankato where Augsburg won 6-0. They started the scoring early with Marie Fitzgerald's 10th minute goal into the lower right corner of the net. Olivia Muyres followed with a goal less than five minutes later and they didn't look back from there.

In Bethany's win over Finlandia, the Vikings outshot the Lions 29-0. Thursday night against the Auggies, that was reversed as Vikings' goalkeeper Alexa Mowery saw 52 shots headed in her direction with 24 of those shots on goal to get credit for 19 saves.

BLC next plays Saturday at UW-River Falls at 2 p.m. The Vikings look for a better result against the Falcons as they handed the Vikings a 10-0 defeat last season in Mankato.
