Jade Pelzl leads four Vikings in double figures and
Kasslin Swenson grabs a season-high 18 rebounds as the Bethany women top Northland Friday night 63-52 in UMAC basketball action.
The Vikings shot over 52 percent from the floor (12-for-23) and held the Lumberjills to only 24 percent in the first half to help build a 37-18 halftime edge. Pelzl scored 12 of her team-high 15 points in the first half while hitting all four of her shots from beyond the arc.
Northland came out firing in the second half and cut their 19-point halftime deficit down to seven by scoring the half's first 12 points a little more than five minutes in.
Aimie Wiechmann stopped their spurt with a big 3 to give Bethany back their double-digit advantage. The Vikings extended that lead to as many as 20 later in the half.
Swenson tallied 12 points to go along with her 18 rebounds. Wiechmann added 12 while making three of her four 3-point tries and
Angie Scheffler posted ten.
Bethany (5-10, 2-2 UMAC) plays Saturday at St. Scholastica at 5 p.m.
