Bethany cruises past Crown behind career night from Wiechmann

Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Sophomore guard Aimie Wiechmann had yet to score 20 points in a game as a Viking. That changed Friday night as she tallied 21 points to lead Bethany to an 82-55 victory over Crown in UMAC women's basketball play.

Bethany led 33-26 at the half and it was Wiechmann that led a spark to start the second half. After Lacey Ellinghuysen started the second 20 minutes with a 3, Wiechmann followed with a jumper and two lay-ins as part of a 17-0 run to open the second half. Wiechmann was 8-for-12 from the floor including 3-of-4 from downtown.

The Vikings shot nearly 53 percent in the second half as they outscored the Storm 49-29.

Ellinghuysen recorded her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Jade Pelzl scored 14 and Kasslin Swenson added 12.

Bethany (6-11, 3-3 in UMAC) heads to Morris Saturday for a 3 p.m. tilt with the Cougars.
