Box Score WAVERLY, Iowa --- For the second straight night, the Bethany men's basketball team faced an Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team on the road and for the second straight night, the Vikings started out strong, but weren't able to hold on to a first half lead as they fell to Wartburg 81-64 in the final non-conference tune-up before UMAC play begins next weekend.
The Vikings took its first lead at 15-12 following a
Jacob Wensmann three with 11:37 left in the first. They did not trail the rest of the half as they went into the break leading 31-30.
Jeremiah Fogarty stared the second half with a three giving BLC a four-point edge. Wartburg, though, quickly evaporated that lead going on a 6-0 run. After a Wensmann layup tied the game at 36, an Eddie Diemer layup gave Wartburg the lead for good with 17:30 remaining in the game.
Wensmann led BLC in scoring for the second straight night with 20 points.
Chris Scarver scored 14 off the bench and
Mitch Hopkins added 11.
Bethany wraps up its non-conference record at 1-10. They kick off the UMAC portion of their schedule next Saturday at Martin Luther at 3 p.m.
