Box Score ST. PAUL - The final weekend of regular season kicked off Friday for the Bethany women's soccer team at Northwestern with the Vikings still in contention for a UMAC playoff berth. A late Eagles goal gave Bethany a 3-2 setback, but it doesn't knock them out of the playoff chase.
The top four teams in the standings qualify for the UMAC postseason tournament. Northland and Martin Luther are tied for third with 21 points with Bethany in fifth at 18. The Vikings can still qualify with a win Saturday at North Central combined with a loss by either Northland who plays at Minn.-Morris or by Martin Luther who hosts St. Scholastica.
Nicole Moldstad scored both of Bethany's goals Friday. Her first gave BLC a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute. Her second from 20 yards away knotted the game at 2 in the 70th minute.
The game appeared headed to overtime, but Northwestern's Katie Meinke connected on the game-winner with 35 seconds remaining.
Megan Zeller had ten saves for the Vikings in net.
