Tough setback for men as they fall to Rams in overtime

Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Bethany men's basketball team suffered their second tough defeat in as many nights as they dropped an overtime decision at North Central Saturday 81-75. The Vikings are now tied with St. Scholastica for fourth place in the UMAC with one more weekend of regular season games remaining.

Bethany started out well trailing for only a little more than two minutes in the game's first 20 minutes. A Chris Scarver 3 gave the Vikings an 11-10 lead with 13:01 left. They never trailed the remainder of the half and BLC led by six at the break when Scarver drained another 3 just before the buzzer to give the Vikings a 38-32 lead.

The Vikings extended that lead to 11 following a Luke Roddy 3 making it 53-42 with 12:50 remaining in regulation. North Central kept chipping away at the lead and eventually tied it at 64 with 3:31 left. Jacob Wensmann scored the game's next four points, but the Rams answered with four to send the game into overtime tied at 68.

Nick Sanborn started the extra session with a lay-in, but the Rams would outscore the Vikings 13-7 to close it out.

Sanborn led BLC with 23 points. Wensmann had 17 and Scarver added 15.

Bethany (7-16, 6-6 in UMAC) closes out the regular season with a pair of big home games starting Friday against Minn.-Morris at 7:30 p.m.
