Box Score MANKATO, Minn. --- The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings came into Tuesday night's women's basketball game against the Martin Luther College Knights in need of a crucial conference win to keep pace in the UMAC conference tournament race. The Knights would not be denied, however, and were able come away with a strong 82-58 win over the Vikings.
The Vikings were able to start fast and stifle the Knights early, jumping out to a slim 11-9 lead after
Jade Pelzl's 3-pointer with 15 minutes remaining in the first half. It was all Knights after that, however, as they outscored the Vikings 29-5 over the next 12 minutes and went into the half with a 45-24 lead. MLC was just as dominate in the second half as well, as the Vikings dealt with foul trouble to
Lacey Ellinghuysen and
Aimie Wiechmann. The Vikings never got any closer to the lead, and the Knights were able to close out victory.
Mariah Schoof, a freshman guard, came off the bench to score 25 points for the Knights, making 5 of 7 three-pointers. Alex Anthon also added 15 points for MLC.
For Bethany, Pelzl led the way with 22 points, making 6 of 9 three-pointers.
Kasslin Swenson also had a double double for the Vikings grabbing 13 rebounds to go with ten points.
Angie Scheffler also had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings.
Bethany (6-13, 3-5 in UMAC) next play Friday night against St. Scholastica at home at 5:30 pm.
