Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The St. Scholastica Saints came into Mankato looking to keep pace in the UMAC standings, and they were not disappointed, coming away with a 12-2 win over the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings.
The hot Saints' bats were held in check for most of the first four innings, with Bethany pitcher
Jake Gleason holding them to only a 3-0 lead. The Saints exploded for nine combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings, however, giving them a 12-0 lead. The Vikings responded with four hits and two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to RBI singles by freshman
Blake Kerzich and senior
Lucas Herd. The Vikings combined for nine hits and zero errors in the game.
The Vikings and Saints will complete the series with a doubleheader tomorrow starting at noon in Mankato.
