Vikings destroy North Central in doubleheader sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 COON RAPIDS, Minn. - The Bethany baseball team is picking the right time to get hot. They outscored North Central 35-3 in a doubleheader sweep to push their win streak to six.

Bethany led 6-0 after five innings of game one and broke open the contest with a nine-run sixth. Dylan Gass, Nate Lee, and Dustin DeBeau each knocked in a pair of runs in the frame.

Lucas Herd went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Lee, DeBeau, and Tyler Hebrink all had multiple hits and runs batted in as Bethany won 16-2. Gass got the start on the mound and went six innings allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out five.

Game two was more of the same as the Vikings went on to route the Rams 21-1. Bethany scored at least three runs in five innings with the high mark being a six-run third.

Joe Tuholsky got the complete game win on the mound allowing five hits and striking out nine. He aided his cause at the plate as well going 3-for-6 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Bethany (8-19, 7-8 in UMAC) has six big games ahead in two days as they are one of three teams alive for the final postseason spot in the UMAC tournament. The Vikings play the other two teams starting Monday with a home triple header with Minn.-Morris beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, they head to New Ulm to battle Martin Luther for another triple header starting at 1 p.m.
