Box Score PELLA, Iowa - The Bethany women's basketball team traveled to Iowa for their final non-conference tune-up before the UMAC schedule kicks off. In a close contest, the Vikings fell to Central College 60-55.

Bethany trailed by one, 27-26, at halftime and the game remained tight 13 minutes into the second half. An Angie Scheffler layup pulled Bethany within three at 45-42 with 7:11 left in the game. The Dutch went on an 11-0 run over the next three and a half minutes to go up 56-42 to seemingly put the game away. The Vikings would not back down though.

Briana Brandts started Bethany's own 11-0 run with a layup and Angela DeBruzzi followed with a 3. A pair of Brandts free throws made the score 56-53 Central with two minutes left. 25 seconds later, a Dakota Ellinghuysen layup pulled Bethany within two at 57-55. That's all the closer they would get as Central made their free throws in the final minute to seal the win.

Brandts recorded her second double-double of the week with 12 points and 14 rebounds and Debruzzi added ten points.

Bethany (1-10) starts the conference portion of their schedule January 10 home to Martin Luther.
