Box Score Vikings Suffer Loss against Cougars

MORRIS, Minn. – The women's soccer team took on the Cougars from Minn.-Morris on Wednesday afternoon in an UMAC battle. Both teams have clinched a spot in the 2015 UMAC women's soccer postseason tournament but a win would improve their team's chances to move up in the conference standings. The Cougars defeated the Vikings by a final score of 4-0.

Bethany entered the game a half point ahead of Minn.-Morris in the conference standings but the Cougars came out on their home field Wednesday afternoon with plans to surpass the Vikings. On the afternoon the Vikings attempted seven shots, three on goal, compared to Minn.-Morris' 21 shots, 12 on goal.
Ali Mix (Oklahoma City, Okla./Western Heights) and
Nicole Moldstad (North Mankato, Minn./MN Valley Lutheran) led the Vikings offensively with two shots apiece.

The Cougars scored their first goal of the contest in the 29
th minute of play to take a 1-0 lead into half time. Minutes into the second period, Minn.-Morris scored another goal to extend their lead to two goals.
Carly Denier then added two late goals to propel the Cougars to a 4-0 defeat over Bethany.

The starting goalkeeper for Bethany,
Averi Cash (Ottumwa, Iowa), played all 90 minutes and recorded eight saves.

Bethany (8-8-2, 5-3-1) has another important conference game on Saturday, October 24 against Northland at the Bethany Soccer Field. The game between the Vikings and Lumberjills is featured as the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Game of the Week. Come out and support the Vikings!
