Box Score Vikings and Lumberjills Tie in Women's Soccer

MANKATO, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Game of the Week featured the Bethany women's soccer team and the Northland Lumberjills. The Vikings came into the game with a record of 8-8-2, 5-3-1, placing them in fifth place in the conference standings. The Lumberjills entered play with a 9-6, 6-2 record, placing ahead of the Vikings in the conference standings. The two teams played to a 1-1 double overtime tie on Saturday afternoon at the Bethany Soccer Field.

The Vikings got on the scoreboard first when
Taylor Friehl (Albert Lea, Minn.) scored her eighth goal of the season from a double assist from
Nicole Moldstad (North Mankato, Minn./MN Valley Lutheran) and
Ali Mix (Oklahoma City, Okla./Western Heights). Northland answered with a goal late in the first period of play to knot the score at 1-1 going into half.

For the reminder of the contest both teams had their scoring chances but could not find the match winner. The Vikings put nine shots on goal compared to Northland's 11. The starting goalkeeper for Bethany on the afternoon was
Averi Cash (Ottumwa, Iowa).

Both these teams will resume action this next week in preparation for the UMAC Postseason Tournament.

The final regular season game for the women's soccer team will be Tuesday at home against North Central Rams starting at 3 p.m. The Vikings will then play Monday, November 2
