Box Score Northwestern Hands Vikings First Conference Loss
MANKATO, Minn. – The first place women's soccer team played at home on Saturday against conference opponent in Northwestern. The Vikings entered the game with a (6-4-2, 4-1-1) record while the Eagles came in at (8-3, 5-1). Northwestern defeated the Vikings by a final score of 6-1 on the chilly fall afternoon at Bethany.
The game featured two teams that are battling for a first place spot in the UMAC standings. Northwestern got off to a hot start by scoring a goal in the first ten minutes of play. After Northwestern's
Jordan Skarin scored her first goal in the ninth minute, she went on to score three more goals and assisted on another goal to led all scorers for Northwestern en route to their victory over the Vikings.
Offensively for the Vikings,
Nicole Moldstad (North Mankato, Minn./MN Valley Lutheran) scored the lone goal for the Vikings to bring her total on the season to four goals.
Rachael Melby (Fergus Falls, Minn./Kennedy Secondary) assisted on the goal by Moldstad.
The women's soccer team will now play at home on Monday, October 5 vs. St. Catherine starting at 7 p.m. The game is a non-conference matchup.
