Box Score Opening Night for Women's Basketball

MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany women's basketball team opened up the 2015-16 season vs. the Waldorf Warriors in a non-conference match-up in the Sports and Fitness Center on Friday Night. The Vikings and Warriors showed a lot of energy and excitement throughout the duration of the contest.

Bethany defeated the Warriors from Waldorf by a final score of 92-83 in a double overtime thriller to earn their first victory of the season.

Leading the way for the Vikings in her first collegiate basketball game was freshman
Haley Sandin, (Zimmerman, Minn./Princeton) finishing with a game high of 26 points, four steals, and three assists.
Minnie Frederick-Childress (Flint, Mich./Mankato East) added 19 points while
Dakota Ellinghuysen (Peterson, Minn./Hope Lutheran) and
Briana Brandts (St. James, Minn.) added 15 and 14 respectfully. Another key player who reached double figures in the contest was
Christina Wickingson, (Mason, Wis./Drummond) adding 12 points to the Vikings offense.

The women's basketball played with high intensity on the defensive end of the court by forcing 30 turnovers on the night.

On Tuesday, November 17
th, the women's JV basketball team will open up their season against Ridgewater. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The varsity team plays on Wednesday, November 18
th at St. Olaf starting at 7 p.m.
