Box Score Men's Basketball Falls in Overtime to Wis.-Stout
MENOMONIE, Wis. – On Tuesday night, the Vikings men's basketball team traveled to Wis.-Stout to take on the Blue Devils in a non-conference matchup. The Vikings entered the game looking to earn their first win of the season.
Bethany fell to Wis.-Stout in overtime by a final of 93-92. The Vikings led for most of regulation before the Blue Devils tied the score with less than 20 seconds left to force overtime.
In the extra period of play, the Blue Devils scored the first six points to set the tone before the Vikings responded with a couple three's by
Neil Eichten and
Bradley Rose to knot the score at 90 with 30 seconds left. Bethany's
Jordan Sandmeyer made a lay-up to put the Vikings ahead by two with 10 seconds left.
Wis.-Stout's free throw by Isaac Elliott with two seconds left sealed the deal for the Blue Devils has they defeated the Vikings 93-92.
Brandyn Frelix finished the contest with a season high 25 points and nine rebounds, going 8-9 from the free throw line.
Eichten added 23 points and five assists for the Vikings while
Brady Rose contributed with 11 points and six rebounds.
Bethany finished the 45 minutes of action shooting 52% from the field and connecting on 8-21 from downtown while the Blue Devils shot 41% while making 6 of 21 three's attempted.
The next game for the Vikings (0-4) will be Friday, December 4
th when they welcome Wis.-Superior to the Sports and Fitness Center for the first game of the 2015-16 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference season. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with the women's game to follow.
