Box Score Knights Efforts on the Boards Power Past Vikings

MANKATO, Minn. – The Vikings women's basketball team was in action Tuesday night as they took on Carleton in a non-conference game held in the Sports and Fitness Center.  The Knights defeated the Vikings by a final 65-56.

After defeating Central on Saturday, the Vikings were looking to continue their winning ways with a victory over the Knights from Carleton. The Knights entered the game with a slight height advantage over the home team, and that proved to be the difference Tuesday night as the Knights efforts on the boards' power past the Vikings. Carleton out-rebounded the Vikings 47-30.

Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week,
Haley Sandin provided the offensive spark for the Vikings by recording 27 points, two assists and two steals on the night.
Minnie Frederick-Childress and
Briana Brandts added 10 points apiece in the loss to Carleton.
Frederick-Childress added seven steals and two assists while
Brandts recorded six total rebounds.

The Vikings shot 31% (18-57) from the field compared to 39% (21-53) for the Knights. From the three-point arc, Bethany shot 14% (3-21) compared to 58% (7-12) for Carleton. Bethany forced 28 turnovers on the night while giving up 17.

Maya Okamoto led all scorers for the Knights with 19 while Caroline Hull added 10 for the Carleton offense to earn their first victory of the season. Anna Hamilton led all Knights with 13 rebounds.

Next up for the Vikings (2-2) will be a trip to St. Paul on Monday, November 30
th to take on Macalester in a non-conference matchup. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
