Wartburg Power's Past Women's Basketball
WAVERLY, Iowa – The Bethany women's basketball team took on the Wartburg Knights Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup. The Knights defeated the Bethany women's basketball team 87-64.
The Wartburg Knights compete in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and have been to the conference tournament the last several years and competed for a conference championship. The Knights had a huge height advantage over the Vikings on Tuesday night, and that definitely played a factor in the victory over Bethany.
Minnie Frederick-Childress led all scorers on the night with 20 points and collecting eight rebounds. The junior guard had three steals and two assists while UMAC Player of the Week
Haley Sandin scored 19 in the efforts against Wartburg.
The women's basketball team shot 27.3% (25-67) from the field and 25% (6-24) from beyond the arc while the Knights finished the contest shooting 50.8% (33-65) from two-point range and 37.5% (9-24) from three's.
Bethany falls to 3-5 (1-1 in UMAC) while the Knights improve to 5-1 on the young season.
On Saturday, December 12
th Bethany will face the Knights from Martin Luther in a conference rivalry game held in the Sports and Fitness Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. with the men's game happening beforehand. Come out and support the Vikings in UMAC basketball.
