Box Score NEW ULM, Minn. - The Bethany men's basketball team led by as many as 14 points in the first half on the road at Martin Luther, but the Knights staged a second half rally and stunned the Vikings 65-57 in UMAC action.
With Bethany leading 12-10,
Nick Sanborn started a 12-0 spurt. He scored the first five points of the rally which started with a 3-point play.
Miles Kelson and
Zach Brandts followed with lay-ups and
Luke Roddy ended the streak with a 3 to put the Vikings up 24-10 with 6:31 remaining in the first half. Martin Luther would close out the half on a 14-4 run to pull within four at 28-24 at the break.
Bethany was still out in front for the first nine minutes of the second half and led by five at 39-34 following a Sanborn tip-in with 11:27 left in the contest. Over the next four minutes, the Vikings could not find the basket while the Knights rattled off 15 straight points and took a 10-point lead at 49-39 with 7:46 remaining.
The Vikings would pull within five on a pair of occasions, but would get no closer and fell by eight points.
Neil Eichten led BLC with 16 points and Sanborn scored 12.
Bethany (3-16, 3-5 in UMAC) next plays Friday home to Northwestern at 7:30 p.m.
