Vikings take two from Marian

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TUCSON, Ariz. - After two days off to rest and practice, the Bethany baseball team got back in the win column with a late night sweep of Marian University.

In the first game, the Vikings trailed 4-3 going into the bottom of the fourth and scored nine runs in the frame to take control. Clay Anderson drove in the first run on a 1-out bases loaded single to score Brandyn Olsen who led off with a single. Joe Tuholsky reached on a bunt single to plate another run. Nolan Grose later doubled to center to bring in two and would score the final run of the inning on a Danny Kneeland single.

At the plate, Bethany was led by Tuholsky who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Olsen who went 3-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored. Grose was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs.

Hunter Hamers was credited with the win. Nick Dewanz pitched three solid innings in relief in the 12-7 win.

In the nightcap, Olsen gave Bethany a two-run lead in the top of the fourth with a run-producing single to right to score Adam Geiger and Lucas Herd. The Vikings added to their lead in the fifth when Geiger and Tyler Hebrink each had RBI hits. Bethany would add three insurance runs in the seventh to make the final 9-3.

Geiger went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Olsen and Hebrink each went 2-for-4.

Cody Leitner struck out six in six innings to get the victory.

Three more games remain in Bethany's Arizona trip.
