Box Score 2 MORRIS, Minn. - Bethany belted out 27 hits and got a great pitching performance from
Ronald Donley as the Vikings swept a UMAC opening doubleheader at Minn.-Morris Monday.
Bethany got out to an early lead in the first game with a 3-run second inning.
Drew Quame laid down a suicide squeeze bunt with the bases loaded to plate the first run. After
Jordan Grams walked to bring in another run,
Joe Tuholsky singled to right to score
Danny Kneeland.
It turns out those would be all the runs Donley would need as he pitched his second complete-game of the season allowing only one run on four hits while striking out seven.
The Vikings did give Donley more support though scoring in four of the final five innings. Six different Vikings got two hits apiece as part of the 14-hit attack in the 10-1 win.
While Donley starred on the mound in the first game,
Trent Saharek led the team with his bat in the second game. He tied a single-game program record with seven runs batted in. All of Saharek's RBIs came in the game's first two innings as Bethany scored five runs in each frame. His first inning bases-clearing triple and cleared the bases again with a grand slam in the second as the Vikings coasted to a 15-11 win.
Bethany (6-5, 2-0 in UMAC) wraps up the 3-game series Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
