Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. PAUL - After losing a high-scoring opening game, Bethany bounced back with an extra-inning win to earn a split of their non-conference baseball doubleheader with Macalester Thursday.

In the second game, Bethany trailed 2-1 after one inning, but tied it in the second. After a pair of walks led off the inning, Jordan Grams' sacrifice bunt moved two runners into scoring position. Joe Tuholsky's single to left center plated Nolan Grose to tie the game at 2.

It remained that way until the fifth when the Vikings struck for two runs. Adam Geiger singled to lead off the frame and two batters later, Nick Caldeen belted his second collegiate home run over the left field wall to put BLC up 4-2.

Macalester rallied for two in the seventh to send the game to extra innings.

Drew Quame led off the eighth with a pinch hit double to right center. Kevin Harris came on to pinch run and he scored two batters later on a single to center from Clay Anderson.

The Scots loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth with one out. Brandyn Olsen came on to get the final two outs to preserve the win.

Starter Nick Dewanz pitched seven solid innings allowing seven hits while striking out six. Geiger collected three hits in both games.

Bethany (14-14) returns home to start a three-game series with Crown Friday at 3 p.m.
