Box Score 2 MANKATO, Minn. - On a beautiful spring day for baseball, Bethany scored 22 runs to earn a doubleheader home split with MIAC-foe Hamline Sunday.
In the opener, Bethany scored early and often putting crooked numbers on the scoreboard in each of the first three innings. AÂ
Lucas Herd single and anÂ
Adam Geiger double put runners in scoring position in front of aÂ
Tyler Hebrink sacrifice fly that scored Herd.Â
Trent Saharek followed with an RBI single to score Geiger and give BLC a 2-0 lead.
The Vikings followed with four runs in both the second and third innings. Herd, Geiger, and Hebrink all had run-producing hits in the second and the same trio added RBIs in the third along with a sacrifice fly from Saharek that put Bethany up 10-5 through three.
Bethany added five more in the fifth to put the game away. Eleven batters came to the plate with five different Vikings driving in runs.
Geiger, Hebrink, and Saharek all had three hits and drove in three runs.Â
Nolan Grose also tallied three hits withÂ
Joe Tuholsky, Herd, andÂ
Drew Quame adding two hits a piece as part of an 18-hit attack in the 15-9 win.
In the second game, Bethany fell behind 5-0 before putting together a big fourth inning to take the lead. AÂ
Nick Caldeen single, aÂ
Josh Montbriand double, and a walk loaded the bases beforeÂ
Taylor Beattie's RBI single brought home the first run. A pair of hit batsmen made the score 5-3.Â
Kevin Harris' RBI single cut the deficit to one and Caldeen's single to right center drove in two to give BLC a 6-5 lead.Â
Bethany led 7-6 going into the seventh, but Hamline scored one to send the game into extras. The Pipers scored one in the eighth and would on hold for the 8-7 win.
Bethany (16-16) will host Crown, in the game postponed from Friday, Thursday at 3 p.m. in their home finale.
