Box Score Women's Soccer Wins Season Opener
MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany women's soccer team opened the 2015 campaign with an exciting 2-1 victory over Buena Vista.
The Vikings scored their first goal of the season off the foot of senior
Taylor Friehl (Albert Lea, Minn.) two minutes into the second period of play. The goal was assisted by senior teammate
Bridget Hennen (Apple Valley, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran).
Buena Vista would answer with a goal of their own in the 67
th minute of play by
Caroline Maher. The goal was assisted by
Samantha Arnold. The goal by Maher would be the lone goal the Vikings would allow from Buena Vista.
Bethany responded when the team's leading scorer a year ago,
Nicole Moldstad (North Mankato, Minn./MN Valley Lutheran) netted a goal off the corner kick from
Lydia Wildauer (Port Washington, Wis./Luther Preparatory) that sealed the 2-1 victory to start the season for the women's soccer team.
The Vikings are off until Friday when they travel to Wisconsin Lutheran for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
