Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener

MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany men's soccer team kicked off their season Tuesday night as they hosted Buena Vista in a non-conference game. The Vikings fell to the Beavers by a final score of 3-0. 
 
The game was scoreless through the first 38 minutes before Buena Vista connected on a header from the top of the box from Fabian Salazar, assisted by his teammates Marcus Krause and Tyler Smaha. The Beavers would connect on two more goals late in the contest from Ricky Rugabisha and Carlos Silva.
 
Bethany finished the contest with six shots; four of those were shots on goal. The Vikings faced 18 shots against them and saw bright spots on the defensive side of the field, which will be vital for the team this season.

The Vikings will return to action September 4 when they travel to Wisconsin Lutheran to take on the Warriors in another non-conference battle.
