Quotes from head coach Michael Dunn following the Women's first meet of the 2015 campaign, "Today's weather was something out of a Charles Dickens novel. Winds were gusty, the rain was relentless, the heat was unbearable and the lightning was striking every five minutes. The athletes that toed the line from start to finish and touted the Bethany uniform competed hard. For our women, two placed in the top 10. Megan Sauer finished 5th overall and Kirsten Elyea finished 7th overall. Katie Caflisch finished 17th overall and Morgan Sauer crossed the line in 21st. Rounding out our 6 competitors, Elise Widmer and Anna Lieske both had good efforts. I was pleased with how the woman performed today and am excited to see how they develop throughout the season. "Lauren Farquhar also competed today down in Pella, Iowa at the Central College Invitational. She had a phenomenal race as she placed 6th overall and led the race for over the first 1K of the 6K race. This was a great chance for Lauren to go compete at the Regional course we will see later this year. I am proud of her for going and competing in a race that will give her great course experience for when we see it again in November."
Quotes from coach Dunn following the completion of the Men's first outing of the season, "The five men that competed for us today were David Luehring and Zach Dantzman both finishing in the top 25. Carl Wold, Lucas Malimanek, and Nic Bruss fought through the heat and were able to gut it out and rounded out our 5 men competing in today's event. It was great to see their effort and I look forward to watching this team grow this season as we continue to put in work that will prepare this team for conference."
What's next for the Vikings? The teams were very satisfied with the meet this weekend and will continue to train for their meet on September 19 when they travel to St. Olaf in Northfield, Minn.
