Box Score Cougars Top Men's Basketball

MANKATO, Minn. – Coming off an impressive victory over North Central last weekend, the men's basketball team returned to play Friday night against Minnesota Morris in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference contest. A strong second half performance by the Cougars leads them to a defeat over the Vikings, 85-64.

The Cougars lead 44-35 going into half-time. Throughout the first 20 minutes of play, both teams showed their ability to knock down tough shots to help their team fight for a spot in the Postseason Tournament. Leading the way for Bethany in the first half was
Neil Eichten and
Zach Brandts scoring 11 points apiece while
Nate Chadderdon collected five rebounds down low.

Reigning UMAC Player of the Week, CD Douglas lead the Cougars with eight points and nine assists in the first half.

In the second half, Bethany cut the Cougars lead to three points with 12:31 remaining in the contest when
Eichten made back-to-back field goals for his team. From that point forward, Minn.-Morris took control by going on a 20-4 run to extend their lead to 71-52 with seven minutes remaining. Bethany continued to make adjustments throughout but couldn't find the answers to stop the Cougars.

Eichten finished the UMAC game with 20 points and three assists for Bethany while
Brandts finished with 15 points and five rebounds.
Chadderdon finished the battle down low with 11 total rebounds.

Minn.-Morris saw all five of their starters reach double-figures in points. Tyler Ukkelberg lead the Cougars with 19 points and 11 rebounds in the efforts over Bethany. CD Douglas finished with 18 points and 12 assists.

35.7% (25-70) was how the Vikings finished from the field compared to the Cougars 55% (33-60) on the night. Both team connected on six three-pointers while Bethany outrebounded Minn.-Morris 41-35.

On Saturday, the Vikings will welcome the Storm from Crown College to Bethany for another UMAC contest. The game is schedule for a 3 p.m. tip-off. Dance Express will provide the half-time entertainment for both the men's and women's game. Come support Vikings athletics.
