Box Score Men's Basketball Storms Past Crown
Zach Brandts and Neil Eichten press conference MANKATO, Minn. – Saturday afternoon featured the men's basketball team playing host to the Crown Storm in the Sports and Fitness Center. The Vikings pulled off a 77-69 victory over the Storm.
With a record of 6-10 overall and 4-4 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, the Vikings will enter the second half of the season next weekend.
At the midpoint, Bethany led 32-31 over the Storm.
Nate Chadderdon collected nine first half rebounds for the Vikings while the team outrebounded the Storm 27-15 in the first 20 minutes. Senior
Nick Sanborn scored eight points to spark the Vikings entering the second frame.
In the second half, Bethany focused the attention on the defensive end of the court which translated in the Storm only shooting 39.4% (13-33) from the field. Bethany used a balance attack on the offensive end of the court to earn the victory over the Storm. Five Vikings reached double figures.
Neil Eichten and
Zach Brandts picked up right where they left off last night, helping the Vikings on both ends of the court throughout the entire game.
Eichten finished the UMAC contest with 19 points, three assists, and three steals in 38 minutes on the court.
Brandts contributed with 13 points on the afternoon in 18 minutes of playing time.
Brandyn Frelix scored 13 points, going 7-9 from the free throw line while freshman
Austin Bauer added 12 points off the Vikings bench.
Sanborn finished with 10 points rounding out double figures for Bethany.
Josh Volness had a nice game for the Storm, scoring 20 points while teammate James Brown added 14 on the afternoon.
Next weekend, January 22nd and January 23rd, the men's basketball team will travel to take on St. Scholastica and UW-Superior in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference basketball. Check out
