Box Score Men's Basketball Falls on the Road
SUPERIOR, Wis. – The men's basketball team was in action Saturday afternoon to take on UMAC foe UW-Superior in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Game of the Week.The Yellowjackets took down the Vikings by a final score of 99-75.
The highlight of the day was the performance by junior
Brandyn Frelix on the offensive end. The forward scored 38 points to etch his name into the Bethany men's basketball record books. His 38 point performance ranks second all-time for most points scored in a single game. The current record stands at 39 points. Back in December when the Vikings played UW-Superior the first time around,
Frelix scored 29 points for his team to earn a 92-80 victory for Bethany.
Zach Brandts scored nine points for Bethany while
Neil Eichten,
Nate Chadderdon, and
Nick Sanborn added eight points apiece.
Chadderdon also added seven rebounds for the Vikings.
Bethany Lutheran shot 50.9% from the field, going 0-9 from beyond the 3-point arc, while hitting 19-24 from the free throw line.
The Yellowjackets saw five players reach double-digits in points in the victory over Bethany. Montroy Scott led his team with 21 points while Brian Lindblom added 16 points.
Up next: The Vikings (6-12, 4-6 in UMAC) now travel to New Ulm next Saturday to take on Martin Luther. The conference rivalry game is set for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
