ASHLAND, Wis. – On Saturday, the Bethany men's soccer team played the Northland Lumberjacks at Ponio Stadium in Ashland, Wisconsin. The Vikings and Lumberjacks both entered the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) looking for their first win of the 2016 season. Northland scored the game-winning goal in the 67
th minute to defeat the Vikings 2-1.
The Vikings and Lumberjacks played scoreless soccer for the game's first 45 minutes. In the second period of action,
Samuel Duran (Marshall, Minn.) netted his second goal of the 2016 season to put Bethany ahead 1-0. Moments later, Northland knotted the contest at 1-1 followed by the game-winning goal in the middle of the second half to help propel the Lumberjacks to their first win of the season.
Matt Bitter (Bemidji, Minn.) had eight saves on the afternoon in goal for BLC.
The Lumberjacks held the advantage in the shots on goal department with 10 compared to the Vikings 7.

With only two games remaining on the schedule this season, the Vikings will next travel to North Central on Tuesday, October 25
th for a non-conference matchup with the Rams. First kick is set for 1 p.m.
