NEW ULM, Minn. â The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team traveled to Martin Luther on Saturday night for the first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest of the 2016-17 season. It was the Vikings coming out with the 102-98 victory over the Knights.

The Vikings improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in UMAC action while Martin Luther falls to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in conference.

Bethany guards
Austin Bauer (Caledonia, Minn.) and
Neil Eichten (Wabasso, Minn.) paced the Vikings offensive attack with 23 and 22 points in 29 minutes of court time.
Bradley Rose (Le Sueur, Minn.) and
Brandyn Frelix (Minneapolis, Minn.) contributed with 14 and 13 points apiece while
Brady Rose (Le Sueur, Minn.) added 11. Frelix showed his presence down low, finishing with 13 rebounds.

Bethany held the advantage in bench points, outscoring the Knights 27-19. Throughout the 40 minutes, there were seven lead changes with the biggest lead going to the Vikings with 01:25 left in regulation, eight points.

The men's basketball team will have a quick turnaround with a game on Monday night against the University of Wisconsin-Stout in the North Gym of the Sports and Fitness Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
