MANKATO, Minn. – After beating Martin Luther in the first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest of the 2016-17 season on Saturday, the Bethany men's basketball team returned to their home floor in a non-conference tilt on Monday night against the University of Wisconsin-Stout. In front of a packed gym, the Vikings took down UW-Stout 98-87.
With the win, the Vikings improve to 3-3 overall (1-0 in UMAC) while the Blue Devils fall to 4-2.
The Vikings finished the hard-fought victory shooting 53.2% (33-62) from the field while connecting on 56.0% (14-25) from beyond the three-point arc. Down the stretch, Bethany showed their toughness by knocking down clinch free throws to hold off the Blue Devils. BLC finished at 85.7% (18-21) from the line.
Brandyn Frelix (Minneapolis, Minn.) had another impressive game for Head Coach Matt Fletcher. The senior finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes of action. Junior
Neil Eichten (Wabasso, Minn.) was 5-7 from three-point land, finishing with 24 points.
Brady Rose (Le Sueur, Minn.) added 11 points and eight rebounds while
Austin Bauer (Caledonia, Minn.) and
Bradley Rose (Le Sueur, Minn.) each had 10 points.
The Vikings scored 36 points in the paint compared to UW-Stout's 28.

The Vikings will continue UMAC play this coming weekend against the University of Minnesota-Morris and Crown College. Friday night the Vikings will play the Cougars in Morris, Minn. at 7:30 p.m.
