MORRIS, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team entered the second weekend of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) schedule with a road contest against the Cougars from Minnesota-Morris. The Cougars defeated the Vikings 68-53.
Bethany falls to a 1-1 conference record and 2-5 overall mark while the Cougars improve to 1-1 in the conference and 4-4 overall.
On Friday night,
Minnie Frederick-Childress (Flint, Mich.) and
Haley Sandin (Zimmerman, Minn.) led the Vikings in offensive scoring with 13 points apiece.
Brooke Henning (Worthington, Minn.) and
Christina Wickingson (Mason, Wis.) had 10 and seven points.
As the team, Bethany shot 25.0% (18-72) from the field and 24.2% (8-33) from beyond the arc. The 33 three-point attempts is a new single game record in Bethany women's basketball history.
The Vikings out-rebounded the Cougars (20-17) on the offensive end of the court while UMM held the advantage in defensive rebounds (36-23) to total 53 rebounds for UMM compared to the Vikings 43.

On Saturday, the women's basketball team will have another UMAC contest on the road against Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minn. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 5 p.m.
