Box Score 2 Baseball Team Splits with Simpson

Game One: Bethany Lutheran 15, Simpson College 1Earning their first victory of the 2016 season, the Bethany Vikings had an offensive explosion in the first game of the doubleheader against the Storm. The Vikings finished the contest with 16 hits, two home runs, two doubles, and 15 RBI's from seven different players in the lineup.

Highlights from the Vikings:Drew Quame had an impressive day at the plate for Bethany. The junior finished the game with three hits, two runs scored, and six total RBI's. The first basemen hit a fourth inning Grand Slam to put the Vikings ahead 9-0. His six RBI performance ranks second all-time for most RBI's in a single game for Bethany.
Kevin Harris started the day off with a leadoff single, eventually coming around to score the first run for Bethany. The sophomore collected three hits while scoring two runs and recording an RBI.
Trent Saharek (San Clemante, Calif.) also had three hits while driving in two runs and scoring two runs.
Danny Kneeland, Alek Zentzis, and
Josh Montbriand all had two hits for the Vikings.
Zentzis hit a towering home run to right field in the third inning of play, while
Montbriand finished game one with three RBI's.

Game Two: Simpson College 3, Bethany Lutheran 0The Bethany offense cooled off in the second game of the doubleheader as the team was only able to scratch together two total hits in the seven inning contest.

Highlights from the Vikings:Cody Leitner pitched all seven innings of the contest, only giving up five hits while striking out four Storm batters.
Nick Caldeen and
Montbriand each had a single to left field in the loss to Simpson.
