MANKATO, Minn. –The Bethany softball team completed the 2016 season on Friday afternoon against the North Central Rams. The Vikings closed out the season with a doubleheader sweep against the Rams.

Game One: Bethany Lutheran 6, North Central 5
In a close matchup against the Rams,
Anna Pipenhagen (Elk River, Minn.),
Cindy Pawlitschek (St. Paul, Minn.), and
Allison Norton (North Pole, Alaska) led the way offensively with two hits each. North Central started out the scoring with one run in the first, but the Vikings answered back in the second with two runs of their own. In the top of the fourth inning, the Rams scored four runs while the Vikings answered with three in the bottom of the inning to make it a tie game. The Vikings were able to put up one more run in the fourth inning to seal the victory.Â

Pawlitschek. She threw a complete game giving up six hits and five earned runs.Â

Game Two:
Bethany was down 6-4 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. In the final inning, the Vikings scored two runs as
Dani Emkes (Montevideo, Minn.) drilled a triple to the gap in right field to knot the score at six apiece. The very next play, the Rams committed an error, allowing
Emkes to score the game-winning run for the Vikings.

Pipenhagen finished the contest with four hits and two RBIs while
Amber Schulz (Amboy, Minn.) added two hits.
Christina Wickingson (Mason, Wis.) earned the victory on the mound for the Vikings.
