MANKATO, Minn. – To begin the second half of the 2016-17 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) schedule, the Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team welcomed conference rival, Martin Luther, to the BLC Sports and Fitness Center. The Vikings secured the 65-52 win over MLC.
With the win, the Vikings improve to 6-3 in the conference standings to remain in the hunt for postseason contention. Overall, BLC is 8-9 while the Knights fall to 4-5 in the UMAC and 6-11 overall.
From the opening tip-off, the BLC women's basketball team controlled the pace of play that remained throughout the contest. Three different Vikings reached double figures in the efforts over MLC. Leading the way was sophomore
Haley Sandin (Zimmerman, Minn.), scoring 13 points.
Rachel Sorensen (Windom, Minn.) added 12 points, going 4-12 from beyond the three-point arc. Junior
Brooke Henning (Worthington, Minn.) recorded her first double-double in a Vikings uniform. The forward scored 11 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
As a team, BLC shot 33.3% (22-66) while the Knights shot 34.5% (19-55). The Vikings scored 26 points off MLC turnovers, which played a huge factor in the conference win. The largest lead was stretched to 22 points at the five minute mark in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings continue their home stand on Friday night against Crown College. The action will begin at 5:30 p.m.
