MANKATO, Minn. – To begin the important Upper Midwest Athletic Conference weekend, the Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team played the Crown College Storm, looking for their seventh conference win of the season. The Vikings did just that – defeating the Storm 99–90 to remain in the postseason picture.
With the win, BLC improves to 11-7 overall and 7-3 in UMAC while Crown falls to 6-12 and 4-6.
Five Vikings reached double figures in the hard fought effort over Crown. Senior
Brandyn Frelix (Minneapolis, Minn.) led the charge with 23 points and four rebounds.
Neil Eichten (Wabasso, Minn.),
Brady Rose (Le Sueur, Minn.), and
Blake Lindstrom (Hanley Falls, Minn.) each had 14 points. Sophomore
Jarred Merchant (Kimball, Minn.) added 12 points and five rebounds for BLC.
As a team, the Vikings shot 55.7% from the field compared to the Storm's 46.5%. The Vikings also connected on 80% (4-5) from downtown. In 40 minutes of action, BLC had 18 team assists, and out-rebounded the Storm 41-33. Head Coach Matt Fletcher saw productive minutes from his bench play as 28 of the 99 points were scored.
