MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany women's basketball team played host to Finlandia University on Friday night in non-conference action to begin the New Year. The Vikings cruised to a 79-63 victory over the Lions to begin the New Year.

With the win, BLC improves to 5-7 overall and remains at 3-2 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lions began the first half of play shooting 46.2% from the field compared to the Vikings 33.3%.
- The Vikings made several halftime adjustments which proved to be the difference as BLC outscored the Lions 25-6 in the third period of play.
- BLC had five players reach double-figures in the scoring department.
- BLC capitalized off of the Lions turnovers, scoring 19 points.
- As a team, BLC ended with 20 team assists.
- Looking at the rebounding category, BLC held the 41-23 advantage.
- BLC created 13 steals compared to the Lions six.
- The largest lead of the game was with 00:36 seconds left in the third quarter when the Vikings were up 18.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE VIKINGS:
- Sophomore Haley Sandin (Zimmerman, Minn.) scored 18 points in the second half of play to finish with 20 points and seven assists
- Junior Rachel Sorensen (Windom, Minn.) shot 100% (4-4) from behind the three-point arc to total 14 points off the bench for the Vikings.
- Junior's Brooke Henning (Worthington, Minn.) and Dakota Ellinghuysen (Peterson, Minn.) each compiled 13 points while Henning collected seven rebounds and Ellinghuysen brought down eight.
- Senior Minnie Frederick-Childress (Flint, Mich.) had another stellar game, scoring 10 points while adding 10 rebounds, seven steals, and five assists.
