ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Bethany women's soccer team (6-9, 5-5) picked up their third win in a row on Tuesday evening after defeating Crown (0-15, 0-10) on their home field by a score of 3-0.
The Vikings were absolutely dominant in the game racking up a season-high 38 shots with 23 of them on goal. The dominant offense and staunch defense limited Crown to just three total shots in the game with only one of those on goal. The Vikings also had nine corner kicks in the contest.
The first goal for the Vikings came off a penalty kick by senior forward Nicole Moldstad in the 12th minute. The Vikings had many more shots in the first half, but Crown's goalie did a great job keeping anything from getting to the back of the net. The Vikings led 1-0 at half.
The Vikings offensive dominance continued in the second half, but Crown goalie Michaela Cowman continued her efforts in net not allowing any goals for the majority of the period. The Vikings finally wore Cowman down in the 85th minute with a goal from sophomore Haley Sisson. Sisson's goal was assisted by Emily Barthel. Less than four minutes later, the Vikings added one more goal for good measure again from Nicole Moldstad.
The Vikings currently sit in fifth place in the UMAC standings.
