NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethany men's soccer team (1-13-2) lost a non-conference matchup against St. Olaf (3-11-1, 2-5-1) this afternoon by a score of 3-1.
St. Olaf came out aggressive from the beginning and scored their first goal six minutes into the contest. The Vikings offense picked up a bit of traction with corner kick opportunities and a shot on goal by senior forward Broderick Brown. At 32:00 minutes, the Oles struck again, sliding a shot past Bethany goalkeeper Trenton Krueger to take a 2-0 lead. The Vikings continued to push and their efforts paid off when junior forward Meles Abraha sunk a shot at the 43:00 minute mark to cut the Oles deficit to 2-1.
In the second half, 23 minutes of scoreless play was broken when St. Olaf scored their third goal of the game to take a 3-1 lead. The Vikings had a couple more shots on goal and a couple more corner kicks, but they were unable to overcome the deficit and lost by a final score of 3-1.
Trenton Krueger made nine saves for Bethany.
