Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Vikings Lose Final Contest to Saints

DULUTH, Minn.  – The Bethany men's soccer team (1-16-2, 0-10-2) lost their final game of the season to Scholastica (13-6, 11-1) on Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-0.

The Saints started the game with a few tries on Viking goalkeeper Trenton Krueger, but couldn't connect early. Senior Vikings forward Broderick Brown recorded the first shot of the game for the Vikings in the 12th minute, but he missed wide. A few minutes later, Krueger again came up with a couple nice saves after a flurry of attempts by the Saints off a pair of corner kicks. The Saints were relentless, however, and were able to get a shot by the Vikings in the 19th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The two teams played even the rest of the half, the Vikings trailed 1-0.

The Viking defense did a solid job of limiting the Saints for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but they eventually broke loose for another score in the 56th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Ten minutes later, the Saints added another score to their total for a comfortable 3-0 lead. One more goal from the Saints would give them a win with a final score of 4-0.

The Vikings didn't have many offensive opportunities in the game, recording only two shots with one of those on goal. The Saints finished with 21 total shots and 13 on goal. Trenton Krueger made nine saves in net for the Vikings.
