Vikings Stumble in Second Half to Norse

Box Score
MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany men's basketball team (0-3) fell to Luther College (2-1) on a chilly and windy Tuesday night, 79-67. With Thanksgiving approaching, both teams were hungry for a win before the break.

The game started slower than the first two with more defensive play. Luther racked up some quick fouls as the Vikings were in the bonus with 10:19 to play in the first half. Luther later went on a 14-5 run giving them a 30-20 lead before the Vikings closed with a 13-0 run giving them the halftime lead at 33-30.

The second half was tough as the Vikings had to play without the reigning UMAC men's basketball Player of the Week in sophomore Trenton Krueger. He was injured just as the first half ended and missed the rest of the game. The second half was all Luther as they knocked down their shots. They were 7-11 from three-point range (63.6) in the second half. Luther sophomore James Kappus finished with 26 points and junior Jared Nicolaisen had 18 points. They were both key in Luther's second half.

The Vikings were led by senior Neil Eichten. He attacked the basket all day and finished with 24 points. He also dished out five assists. Senior Bradley Rose was the only other Viking in double-figures with 13 points.
