Men's Basketball Earns Their First Win of the Season

Box Score LINCOLN, Neb.  – The Bethany men's basketball team (1-3) earned their first win of the season on the first day of the Snyder Classic in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Vikings defeated Carroll University (1-2) by a score of 74-69.
 
The two teams were tied through the first eight minutes of play, but then the Pioneers created separation after a 10-0 run over the next two minutes. The Vikings matched the Pioneers the rest of the half, but went into halftime down 40-32. Eleven first-half turnovers hurt the Vikings offense and contributed to the deficit. The Pioneers shot 8-11 (72.7%) from behind the 3-point line in the first half.
 
The Vikings came out of the locker room on a mission and cut their halftime deficit to just one point, 47-48, only six minutes in. The two teams traded baskets for the next few minutes, but the Vikings took the lead with 9:26 remaining after a three-point shot from Brady Rose found the bottom of the net. The Vikings played solid basketball down the stretch, converting on offense and getting key stops on defense, securing a 74-69 win.
 
Senior forward Brady Rose and senior guard Neil Eichten each had 15 points for the Vikings. Trenton Krueger gave the Vikings 11 points and Bradley Rose and Jared Milinkovich each added 10 points. The Vikings shot 20-28 from the free-throw line and 23-44 (52.3%) from the field.
 
Up Next: The Vikings continue play tomorrow at the Snyder Classic against the host team Nebraska Wesleyan University. The game will tip off at 5 PM.
