Vikings Heat Up from the Outside in Win over Stout

MENOMONIE, Wis.  – The Bethany men's basketball team (2-4) earned a road victory over the University of Wisconsin-Stout (3-3) on Wednesday evening. The Viking offense was fueled by 14-28 shooting from behind the three-point line as they cruised to victory 84-69.
 
After falling behind early, the Viking offense found its stride and poured in 44 first half points. Senior forward Brady Rose had 19 first half points, going 5-7 from behind the arc. Senior guard Neil Eichten quarterbacked the Viking offense with seven first half assists and zero turnovers. The Vikings were 9-18 from three in the first half and 16-31 overall. The Blue Devil offense was also hot in the first half shooting 56.7% from the field. The Vikings led 44-39 at the break.
 
Early in the second half, the Blue Devils came within two points, but the Vikings regrouped and took control for the remainder of the game. Trenton Krueger put an exclamation point on the win after stealing at pass at the top of the key and hammering home a two handed jam. The Vikings biggest lead in the second half was 19 points and they finished with an 84-69 win.
 
Neil Eichten powered the Viking offense with 11 assists and zero turnovers on the night and added eight points as well. Brady Rose finished with 22 points on 6-9 shooting from the outside. Trenton Krueger scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds.   
 
As a team, the Vikings showcased what team basketball is about as they had 19 total assists on 29 made field goals, contributing to a shooting percentage of 47.5%. From behind the arc, the Vikings were 14-28 (50%). The Vikings tightened their defense in the second half, holding Stout to 38.7% from the field.
