Vikings Win Third UMAC Game in a Row

MANKATO, Minn.  – The Bethany women's basketball team (8-2, 3-1) won their third straight UMAC game on Saturday after defeating Northland College (1-9, 0-3) by a final score of 73-37.
 
The Vikings had no trouble getting going offensively as they shot a sizzling 60.9% from the field in the first half. Sophomore guard Emily Skrien led all first-half scorers with 11 points including three makes from deep. Seven other Vikings scored in the first half as well for a balanced offensive attack.
 
The Viking defense was tough in the opening 20 minutes, holding the Jills scoreless in the first quarter. Bethany held Northland to 11 first-half points and just 15.6% from the field while forcing 14 turnovers. The Vikings led the Jills 39-11 at the break.
 
The Vikings took care of business in the second half as well, extending their lead and winning by a final score of 73-37.
 
Emily Skrien and Brooke Henning each finished with 12 points to lead the Vikings. Haley Sandin played a well-rounded game with 10 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. The Vikings shot 50% from the field as a team and were 7-17 from the three-point line. They also had 22 assists on 28 made field goals.
 
Up Next: The Vikings are done now until after Christmas break and will host Macalester College on Saturday, December 30 at 3 PM.
