FAYETTE, Iowa – The Bethany men's basketball team (6-5) battled NCAA DII Upper Iowa University (8-7), but fell 94-89.
 
After falling behind early 11-0, the Vikings found their footing and gave the Upper Iowa Peacocks a great game. The Vikings took their first lead of the game with three minutes left in the first half, ahead of the Peacocks 40-38. Upper Iowa regained control and held a 50-46 lead at the half.
 
The Vikings cut into the Peacock lead right away in the second half and the two teams battled the rest of the way. With six minutes left in the game, the Vikings held a one point lead by a score of 80-79. Down the stretch, the Peacocks turned momentum in their favor and won by a final score of 94-89.
 
Trenton Krueger had a game-high 23 points on 9-17 shooting. Brady Rose scored 19 points for the Vikings, going 3-4 from the three-point line and 8-8 from the free-throw line. Bradley Rose had 15 points and Neil Eichten had 10 points and a game-high seven assists.
 
The Vikings shot 47.6% from the field as a team and went 11-26 from the three-point line. The Vikings shot 18-22 from the free-throw line and collected 10 offensive rebounds.
